The Journal of Health and Nutrition Research (JHNR) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal publishing research in health, nutrition, food science, and related clinical and community disciplines.

Mission and Editorial Purpose

JHNR provides a scholarly forum for researchers, health professionals, nutritionists, food scientists, clinicians, educators, and policy practitioners. The journal seeks to disseminate methodologically sound, ethically conducted, clearly reported, and practically relevant research that advances knowledge and supports better health, nutrition, food systems, and health-care practice.

The journal considers original research articles, review articles, and case studies. Manuscripts must be written in English, fall within the journal's stated scope, comply with the current JHNR template, and provide a meaningful contribution to the relevant field.

Editorial Screening and Double-Blind Peer Review

All submissions undergo administrative, scope, template, originality, ethics, scientific-basis, completeness, and presentation screening before external review. Editorial screening is normally completed within several working days, although additional checks may require more time.

Single Complete Manuscript Authors upload one complete manuscript containing author information and all required declarations.
Editorial Anonymization The editorial office prepares and checks the blinded copy supplied to reviewers.
Independent Reviewers At least one and normally two qualified reviewers are invited based on expertise and independence.
Review Time Reviewers are normally given approximately 30 days; revisions and additional reviews may extend the process.
Reviewer Suggestions Authors may suggest reviewers, but appointment remains solely at the editor's discretion after identity and conflict checks.
Editorial Independence Reviewer recommendations inform—but do not replace—the editor's independent judgment.

Publication Frequency and Capacity

JHNR publishes three regular issues each year in April, August, and December. To manage publication growth responsibly, the journal introduced a planning standard of approximately 50 articles per regular issue, effective from August 2025.

This figure is a capacity-planning standard—not an acceptance quota or guarantee. Only manuscripts that successfully complete screening, peer review, revision, final editorial approval, copyediting, and production quality control may be scheduled. Minor variations may occur because of production scheduling, article withdrawal, corrections, or transfer between issues.

Open Access, Copyright, and License

Readers and institutions may access all published content without subscription charges. Authors retain copyright in their work.

Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. Reuse must provide attribution, remain noncommercial, and apply the same license to adaptations.

Article Processing Charge

Submission is free. The APC for an accepted article is Rp 3,500,000, indicatively equivalent to approximately USD 196 (about USD 200). The official invoice remains in Indonesian Rupiah.

A partial waiver of up to 25% may be requested by eligible unfunded researchers, students, or authors experiencing documented financial hardship. APC and waiver decisions are independent of peer review.

Research Integrity and Transparency

JHNR requires accurate authorship, originality, ethical approval where applicable, informed consent, protection of human participants and animals, disclosure of funding and competing interests, responsible citation, and compliance with publication-ethics procedures. Generative AI may assist manuscript preparation only with transparent disclosure, substantive human oversight, verification, and full author accountability.

Data Availability Statement — Effective from the December 2026 Issue A Data Availability Statement is mandatory for all articles published in the December 2026 issue and subsequent issues. Earlier articles are not required to add the statement retrospectively.
