Peer Review Process

All research articles submitted to Studies in Language, Education, and Culture (SeLEC) undergo a double-blind peer review process, meaning both the reviewers and the authors remain anonymous. Each manuscript will be reviewed by at least two reviewers to ensure academic quality.

Plagiarism Screening

Before the review process, submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism by the editorial team using both manual checks (offline and online databases) and Turnitin plagiarism detection software. If plagiarism is detected:

  • Manuscripts with more than 25% similarity will be returned to the author for revision.

  • In cases of serious plagiarism, the manuscript will be rejected immediately.

Review Workflow and Timeline

  1. Submission: The editor receives the manuscript from the author.

  2. Initial Evaluation (1–7 days): The editor evaluates the manuscript based on the journal's aims and scope, formatting, and completeness of required documents.

  3. Plagiarism Check (within 3 days after submission): The manuscript is screened using Turnitin before being sent to reviewers.

  4. Review Process (2–4 weeks): The editor assigns the manuscript to two reviewers and sends the review form. The double-blind review is strictly applied. Reviewers are expected to return their evaluation within 2 to 4 weeks.

  5. Reviewer Feedback: Reviewers return the completed review form, with comments and suggestions, and may include a revised version of the manuscript if necessary.

  6. Editorial Decision (1–7 days): Based on the reviewers' comments, the editor makes a decision:

    • Accepted

    • Minor Revision

    • Major Revision

    • Rejected

  7. Author Notification: The author is informed of the editorial decision by email.

  8. Revision Stage (up to 3  weeks): If revisions are required, the author must submit the revised manuscript within 1-3 weeks. Submissions returned after this deadline will be considered as new submissions.

  9. Final Decision and Publication: Once revisions are accepted and the manuscript is finalized, it will be scheduled for publication and made available online.
